  • Ban Mae Kampong

The name "Ban Mae Kampong" originates from a type of flower with yellow and red petals that grows along the stream, hence the name "Dok Kampong." Combined with the fact that a river flows through the village, it's also called Mae Kampong, which is the origin of the village's name.

Ban Mae Kampong,  a popular tourist destination in Chiang Mai, is a small village designed for ecotourism. Nestled amidst mountains and nature, approximately 1,300 meters above sea level, the village is over 100 years old. Most of its inhabitants migrated from Doi Saket District. Their houses are built along the rivers and streams, surrounded by lush nature. The villagers live a simple life, enjoying a cool climate year-round, with particularly cold temperatures during the winter. Their main occupation is making miang (tea), with coffee cultivation as a secondary source. Visitors can enjoy a day trip or stay in one of the more than 20 homestays available. However, there are no hotels or resorts in the village.

Note: Previously, there was accommodation available at the Royal Project Tin Tok before reaching Mae Kampong village, but currently (since August 2018), the guesthouses within the Royal Project are closed.

  • San Kamphaeng Hot Spring

The San Kamphaeng Hot Spring Project in Mae On District, under the Royal Initiative.
Originally, San Kamphaeng Hot Spring was a natural hot spring used by villagers to boil forest vegetables and treat skin diseases. The San Kamphaeng Hot Spring is a geyser-type hot spring, where underground water is heated by molten rock at high temperatures. This heat causes the water to rise drastically, eventually forcing it through cracks in the rock and erupting as a hot spring. The height of the eruption depends on the temperature of the water. San Kamphaeng Hot Spring has an underground temperature of 105 degrees Celsius, resulting in eruptions exceeding 10 meters in height.? are You can continue your studies at the hot spring.
