This temple was once the site of the 8th world Buddhist recitation, and the Sri Maha Bodhi Buddha Gaya pagoda is considered the sacred relic of the year of birth of the Snake according to the beliefs of the Lanna people. This temple was built by King Tilokarat, the King of the Mangrai Dynasty of Lanna in 1998 and invited Phra Uttamapanya Mahathera to be the first abbot. Along with planting the Bodhi tree, he named this temple “Photharam Mahawihan”. However, because the temple has seven chedis on top, people generally call it “Wat Chet Yot”. The temple itself is made of laterite decorated with stucco patterns, similar to the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, India. The base of the chedi is decorated with stucco figures of deities all around, both sitting cross-legged and standing in different patterns. In addition, this temple was once the site of the 8th world Tripitaka recitation, and the Mahabodhi Buddha Gaya pagoda is considered the sacred relic of the year of birth of the Snake according to the beliefs of the Lanna people.

One thing that will make you feel the difference between the peak of Doi Inthanon and the foothills is the very different temperature. The reason for this phenomenon is because of many factors. The height of the area is a fairly obvious factor. Because increasing height will cause the temperature to decrease. Every 100 meters of increasing height will cause the temperature to decrease by an average of about 0.1 degrees Celsius. Generally, the conditions are moist and cold all year round. Especially the peak of Doi Inthanon, which has the characteristics of a mountain ridge and a mountain peak, there will be strong winds and very cold weather. And on the coldest days during the winter in December - January, the temperature will drop to 0-4 degrees Celsius and there will be frost in the middle of Doi Inthanon National Park. At the highest point of Doi Inthanon peak, there is also a stupa of Phra Chao Inthawichayanon, the origin of the name of Doi Inthanon. In addition, the national park has built an elevated walkway from the stupa to the tourist service center to allow people to admire the nature of the rainforest.
