  • Wat Phra That Doi Suthep

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is situated on a high hill with a view of the city. It is considered one of the most sacred temples in northern Thailand and is believed to have been founded by Kruba Srivichai. In the past, the path to the temple was quite narrow and steep. This temple is a beautiful example of northern Thai architecture. It is a 306-step climb up a staircase surrounded by nagas (mythical sea serpents) which are used by tourists and Thais as a place of worship for people in general.

  • Suan Dok Temple

Suan Dok Temple the largest royal temple in Lanna Suan Dok Temple, formerly known as Wat Buppharam, is a temple that has been with the Lanna Kingdom and Chiang Mai for more than 700 years. It was built by Phraya Kuena during the Mangrai Dynasty. Originally, this place was a garden of Dok Payom flowers. Later, the relics of the Lord Buddha were brought here, so the garden was changed to a temple instead. The locals therefore called this temple Wat Suan Dok. The art inside the temple is very beautiful. It is believed that it was influenced by Burma, as Chiang Mai was once a colony of Burma for a period of time.
